yoga for my ailing friend
7/15/06
Dear yoga friends,
Tommorrow, Sunday, is free yoga class at 10:30am. It will be focused on
what healing energy we can gather to send to my friend, who is having a
mastectomy on Monday. Please come and/or say a prayer for her recovery.
I think our focus together, will allow us to send the benefit of our
prayer out to her.
Thank you, )oh~

My prayers are w/Lorraine. How is she doing? I know she'll be okay w/so many well wishers. I am so sorry I missed Sunday's class as I am just getting this e-mail today. I hope to return to class soon.
Marcia
Thanks Marcia,
Lorraine had an apparently successful operation w/o complications.
I know you have been threatening to
come to class so I'm hoping to see you in the near future.
We are doing some interesting breathwork at the moment.

Dear yoga friends,
Tommorrow, Sunday, is a free yoga class at 10:30am. It will be focused on what healing energy we can gather to send to my friend, Lorraine, who is having a mastectomy on Monday. Please come and/or say a prayer for her recovery. I am including Lorraine's email so that I can share what a brave person she is right now.
I think that our focus together, using the connection of our own life, will allow us to send the benefit of our prayer out to Lorraine.

"Dear family and friends,
I am overwhelmed and deeply moved by the support and encouragement you have given me. Your generosity has floored me. You have soothed my soul, and I am profoundly
grateful.
I undergo surgery on Monday, July 17 at 12:30 for a bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction. It will be a six hour procedure. I am ready for it mentally and physically. Emotionally, well, I still vacillate between fight and flight. Waiting around for this surgery has been a test of my courage. Tom Walker, a dear friend, once gave me a sign that says:"Courage is taking
creative action in the face of fear." The fear is menacing. It creeps up on me when I least expect it. It shakes me awake at night tightening my throat, tensing my muscles and turning my stomach.
Turthang Tulku wrote that "fear is merely energy." A powerful energy.
I had decided to use that energy to put in place all the details to insure a safe
and speedy recovery. I have
thought thoughts that I have never considered before, such as how deeply I love my family and friends, and how grateful I am for the life that I lead, and how blessed I have been to be loved by all of you. The fear has transformed me, and I believe that before this is over, I will transform it.
I take great solace in my yoga practice. Listening to my breath calms me, allows me to feel harmony with the universe, quiets the chatter of my thoughts and fears. My workout makes me feel powerful and strong like the warrior I must be in these circumstances. My grandchildren give me the promise of my future. And, you, my dear family and friends, give me the hope of better days.
Please think of me on Monday. Thank you.
Love,
Lorraine
PS Denise will be sending an e-mail when I come out of surgery to let you know that all is well."
