yoga thanks for giving
yoga friends,
holiday schedule:
no class this wednesday, 11/22,
and no class sunday, 11/26
just as i'm announcing no class for the holidays,
i get to send a reminder to take time out for ourselves.
we all need the opportunity to focus on ourselves, time just
for us. we do this by spending time gardening or going to
the gym, watching a ballgame on television, or reading the
paper, taking a holiday or in some way getting time to
regroup.
during our day, during our week, during life in general,
a lot is asked of us and we give a lot of ourselves to family,
to people we live or work with, to customers and clients, to
our commitments. of course it's great that much of our energy
flows outward, and benefits do come back to us in return.
however our energy can become depleted, at which point
we look kind of frazzled, we start acting ornery, we sound
impatient, smell badtempered and feel exhausted.
this happens very easily whenever we draw from our own
energy reserves, and our health is affected in these ways.
yoga practice gives directly and very efficiently to oneself.
it's one of yoga's certainties, it's almost obvious. in yoga
class we can recharge ourselves. as my yoga teacher likes to
say, "yoga practice replenishes us. yoga practice refills our
personal energies so we have plenty to give in our daily lives."
all that said, i am going on a meditation retreat over this
thanksgiving holiday. i guess i want to collect myself.
--"the more energy in the bow, the further the arrow flies."
(swami robinanda shanti hoodram)--
so expect a palpable energetic buzz in the wednesday class
after i'm back. there should be overflow.
coming up in december:
i am starting an early morning class on fridays,
most likely at 7am (republicans) or 7:30 (democrats),
still depending on last minute voting recounts and any
independent vote tallies.
namaste,
:)oh~
